The May issue of the Mid Cornwall Advertiser is out today! Our front page features the view looking towards Castle an Dinas, near St Columb Major, an Iron Age hill fort dating from around the 3rd to the 2nd century BCE. Legend has it that it was the hunting lodge of King Arthur. St Columb Major offers quite a bit more in the 21st century as you will see from the feature on the St Columb Industrial Estate in this paper and, just down the road, Trevornick Industrial Estate. Also featured is our annual agricultural event, the Royal Cornwall Show, along with the delicious Rock Oyster Festival… and so much more, including our feature on tuition and training.

Pictured on the front cover is the ancient bridge across the River Fowey, leading one into the delightful town of Lostwithiel, which will be …hosting its annual Lostfest on Sunday 12th May, the popular annual arts, crafts and music festival (see page 24). The town of Fowey, a few miles down river from Lostwithiel, is hosting the annual Fowey Festival of Words and Music (formerly called the du Maurier Festival) which will attract thousands to the area (see pages 22 and 23), an eleven day festival beginning on Wadebridge 8th May. The Cornwall International Male Voice Choral Festival also takes place this year, from Thursday 2nd to Monday 6th May, and will include a performance at Fowey Parish Church. For the first time Fowey will also welcome 20 yachts, which will be racing from the French town of Pornichet in the Sailtica Race and arriving on the 5th/6th May this year. So head to Lostwithiel and Fowey, where there is something for everyone!
